Welcome baby girl, 2 weeks new

There is something so special about photographing a brand-new baby, especially when a family welcomes a beautiful baby girl into their home. This sweet little girl was just two weeks new for her newborn photography session, and she was absolutely perfect from beginning to end.

Her mom had originally envisioned a beautiful pink and white color palette for the session, which is such a timeless choice for a baby girl. But as I always do for my newborn sessions, I brought along a variety of additional colors, outfits, and swaddles just in case something else felt like the perfect fit. And I am so glad I did!

When Blue Turns Out to Be Perfect

The moment I walked into their home, I couldn't help but notice how beautifully everything was decorated. Honestly, Mom could have easily been an interior designer! Every detail was thoughtfully chosen, and there was a surprising amount of beautiful blue throughout the home.

That immediately made me think of all the blue newborn outfits and swaddles I had brought along.

Thankfully, I had several options with me, including some gorgeous soft baby blues. Once we started incorporating those colors into the session, everything came together beautifully. The blue looked absolutely precious on their baby girl and coordinated so naturally with their home.

This is one of the reasons I love bringing a wide variety of newborn photography props, outfits, and swaddles to every session. Sometimes the color you originally imagined isn't necessarily the color that ends up being your favorite!

One of the biggest surprises of this newborn session was that we were able to photograph this little girl in three different outfits! If you've ever been around a newborn, you know that babies generally have their own plans. They don't always appreciate outfit changes, posing, or our carefully planned schedules! But this little lady was such a dream. We were able to capture her in several different looks, along with a few adorable swaddled poses. Each setup had its own personality, giving her parents a beautiful variety of images to choose from for their newborn gallery. And, of course, there were plenty of those tiny newborn details that parents want to remember forever — her little features, delicate fingers and toes, and that brand-new-baby sweetness that disappears far too quickly.

A Baby Girl Who Looks Just Like Daddy

One thing became very obvious throughout the session: This baby girl looks just like her daddy! It was so sweet seeing her little face next to her parents and noticing those familiar features. Those are the moments I especially love capturing during a newborn session — the little connections and similarities that make each family completely unique. The family portraits from this session were especially adorable. These aren't just photographs to tuck away on a computer; they're the kinds of images that will look beautiful displayed throughout their home and become part of their family's story.

I can already picture these sweet family photographs hanging on their walls, reminding them of this tiny chapter in their lives for years to come.
