I couldn't believe when Mom booked her session that it had already been a year since his newborn photos! Mom wanted a simple balloon garland with sage and green colors. I opted for cream, sage and added some greenery to make it all pop. Mom ordered some simple rompers online and made his cake. Baby Easton came in a little shy and immediately started crying when Mom put him in the space. Some babies do this, which is why I always advice moms to bring toys, a bottle and some snacks; cake smashes tend to take some time to get the kids acclimated to the new environment. With some playing and tickling, we were able to capture some great ones in between meltdowns! This is totally normal and the name of the game is distract, distract, distract! Look below for some really cute photos of this birthday boy!

Since some babies are already walking and crawling, I use beds, bowls and chairs sometimes to not only add variety, but to contain the babies from walking away from the set. I always tell parents, wear something comfortable because you may be putting the baby back and forth on the set!

Since we got a full gallery using some props, time to get the cake in there. Most kids either love or hate the cake. I think its the texture, the messiness and the new flavors that gets kids sometimes. Thankfully, mom made the cake so it wasn't a total waste of money. While some moms opt to do a nice, on theme cake with a cake designer, some moms can get away with just a white or creme simple 8 inch cake even from their grocery store. Baby Easton was all tapped out and didn't want anything to do with the cake, but crying ones are still very cute! Hey, it's his birthday, he can cry if he wants to.
